Now, let us have a look at some interesting differences of how Millennials, Gen Xers and baby boomers and their social media usage according to a recent research.  Gen Xers were found to spend an average of 7 hours a week on social media networks. Whereas, Millennials spend about 6 hours and baby boomers spend remarkably not so much time on the networks, approximately 4 hours a week. Survey also says that it is mostly women who use social media more than men.

Gen Xers are more likely to look at social media for news or a product review because social media is more than just interaction between people. Gen Xers rely only on social media before they buy any product or proceed with a service. Research also says that the percentage of those interacting with the television on Facebook is 42 percent of Gen Xers and only 40 percent of millennials. Also, the percentage of how Millennials connect with people on social media has comparatively decreased. Clearly, the generation most addicted to smartphones and hence social media is the Gen Xers. Although it was the millennials who mastered social media, it is the Generation X who uses it the most. Owing to the above statistics, the assumption that social media is only for millennials stays no more.
